Basic buttercream recipe. Replace vanilla with whatever flavor you like. I recommend food coloring depending on the flavor - it really helps identify the flavor when you taste it.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 4 cup powdered sugar (sifted - sugar replacements do not work well for this!)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp heavy cream (use more for thinner buttercream)
Instructions
  1. In a stand mixer fitted with a paddle, beat butter until smooth.
  2. On low speed, add slowly add powdered sugar
  3. Increase speed to medium and mix until fully combined.
  4. Return to low speed and add vanilla and cream. Mix until incorporated.
    If the mixture is too thick, add cream. if too thin, add powdered sugar.
Notes

You can freeze unused buttercream up to 3 months!
